Albion: Fire guts vacant house in Derrimut Street

A vacant, single-storey house in Albion will have to be demolished after a fire gutted it early this morning.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade crews were able to bring the Derrimut Street blaze under control in 20 minutes after initial fears it might spread to a neighbouring property.

The fire has been deemed suspicious.

Crews were called at 2.24am this morning

The replacement cost of the weatherboard property has been estimated at $250,000.
