UPDATE: A Brimbank council employee is receiving counselling following a street sweeper accident in Deer Park on Tuesday morning.
A man is dead after being struck by a street sweeper in Deer Park.
The pedestrian, who is yet to be identified, was struck while travelling east along Ballarat Road just before 5am.
“It is a very tragic event,” council chairman John Watson said on Tuesday night. “Our sympathies are with the families of those involved.
“It’s my understanding the driver is a very experienced and long-serving driver.”
Paramedics worked on the man but he died at the scene.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the collision and will prepare a report for the coroner.
