A 34-year-old Hillside man was caught doing almost triple the speed limit in Laverton North this morning.
Police were conducting speed checks on Hume Road when they clocked a car allegedly doing 173km/h in a 60km/h zone about 4.45am.
The Hillside man was interviewed in relation to speeding offences and is expected to be charged on summons.
Police also impounded his GT Falcon turbo.
