Bomb squad called to Caroline Springs shopping area

UPDATE: A man has been charged after he was intercepted by police yesterday in Caroline Springs driving an allegedly stolen vehicle with an explosive device on board.

The Caroline Springs man was pulled over on Caroline Springs Boulevard around midday by members of the Operations Response Unit.

The man, aged in his 30s, was charged with travel with an explosive device.

He was also interviewed in relation to a recent series of thefts in the area and subsequently charged with theft from motor vehicle and theft of motor vehicle.

The investigation into these incidents is ongoing and ORU members will continue to liaise with local detectives.

The man will appear at Sunshine Magistrate’s Court in August
