A man’s legs were burned and his car was destroyed in a garage fire at Derrimut on Sunday.
MFB spokeswoman Heather Stockton said the man had been working on his car when a spark ignited a fuel line.
Seven fire trucks were called to the Sherrington Grange home just after 4pm.
‘‘A man in his 30s has suffered superficial burns to his legs following a fire at his home today,’’ Ms Stockton said.
‘‘Whilst working on his vehicle, a spark from the battery ignited the fuel line causing a fire which quickly engulfed the large double garage, including a car and other stored items.
‘‘The aggressive fire did not take long to spread into the adjoining roof space of the house.
‘‘The single-storey home has significant damage, while the garage has been severely damage and the car destroyed.’’
About 25 firefighters took half an hour to control the blaze.
Paramedics treated the man on scene but he was not required to go to hospital.
