Burnside street closed after hazardous materials found

Burnside residents were told to stay indoors after dangerous chemicals were found inside a vehicle following a high-speed pursuit last Wednesday morning.

Police tried to stop the stolen vehicle on Exford Road, Melton, at about 9am, but the pursuit was called off in Landry Court, Burnside. The vehicle was found soon after in nearby McDee Close.

CFA and MFB crews were called to the scene after barrels of chemicals were found in the vehicle.

A Leopold man, 36, was charged with traffic offences and will face Sunshine Magistrates Court on February 12.
