Sunshine residents wins Powerball first division prize

A Sunshine resident has become a millionaire overnight after claiming a first division Powerball prize of $7.5 million.

The regular Powerball player said becoming a multi-millionaire overnight was incredible.

“I looked up the winning numbers on the internet after the draw and I didn’t believe what I was seeing. I checked the numbers over and over and over again,” the winner said.

“I’ve been playing for years and I didn’t think winning Powerball ever happened to normal people like me.”

The winner said they planned to secure their future with their multi-million dollar Powerball windfall.

“I’ll be able to own my home by paying off the mortgage and I’ll be financially secure for life. I’ve also got plans to share my windfall with some family members to improve their situations too.”

The Sunshine winner purchased their 50 game Powerball entry online at Tatts.com. There were two division one winners in Powerball draw 923 on 23 January 2014 who will each claim a division one share of $7.5 million.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 923 were 28, 9, 24, 14, 7 and 31 and the Powerball was number 11.

The last big win in the area was on November 3, 2011, when a Sunshine resident won $15 million after buying a Powerball ticket from Sunshine Foodworks.

$1.03 million was won in January of that year from a ticket bought at Sunshine Lucky Lotto.
