Help wanted after teenage group assault St Albans man

Police are calling for witnesses after a 25-year-old St Albans man was assaulted by a gang of teenage men early on November 2.

The man was approached by a group of about four or five men believed to be of African descent at about 2.20am after leaving a bus near the intersection of Alfrieda Street and Main Road East in St Albans.

The group followed him along Alfrieda Street. After he attempt to flee, the group caught up and threw him to the ground, assaulted him and stole his wallet, which included $200 and bank cards.

He suffered bruising and scratching to his head, back and arms.

“From the CCTV there may have been four or five in the group, with three partaking in the attack. They seem to be teens and of African descent,” a police spokesman said.
