Pupils at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception School recently stepped back in time to celebrate a special occasion.
The Sunshine school officially is 100 later this month and principal Patrizia Bertani said it was a great time to reflect.
“We want the children to really get a sense of our history and to get an idea about the types of education, songs, games and dances that previous eras participated in,” she said.
The children studied the history in the lead-up to a celebration last week and have created a musical around the school’s history. The performance will be held later in the year. The school will also have an official commemoration.
Ms Bertani said a big turnout is expected.
“On October 17 we’ll be having past principals, nuns, priests, students and the general public come back for the official celebration.
“We’d warmly invite anyone who has any affiliation with the school to come down to Our Ladies Church an 11.15am and afterwards the school will be open.”
She said the key to the school’s longevity was its people.
“Everyone who has worked here or passed through here has left a really rich history.”.
