IN FOCUS: Set for summer at the Deer Park Club

This time last year, Deer Park Club was gearing up for its premier entertainment activities – and are ready to do it all again this summer! As general manager David Thompson says: “We’re the largest entertainment venue in Melbourne’s west and are happy to say that we’re also the best!”

Here’s a rundown of what regulars and visitors can enjoy at Deer Park Club through to Christmas and the hot summer days and nights beyond:

Melbourne Cup Eve Calcutta

Hosted by Mick McGuane, with special guests co-owner of Vo Rogue, Gary Roberts, and form analyst Mark Hunter, Deer Park Club’s Calcutta event will take place on Melbourne Cup eve, Monday, November 4, from 6.30pm-late.

At $30 a person, the event includes a parma, salad and chips (drinks at bar prices), with the Calcutta Auction draw starting at 8pm. Book now via

Christmas is coming

Get into the thick of seasonal celebrations with Deer Park Club’s Carols by Candlelight event on Thursday, December 19, starting at 6pm. This is a joyous occasion for the whole family – make a night of it with a meal together in the bistro and let the kids play in the double-storey indoor playground before the live carols start, the candles are lit and Santa arrives.

Then there’s the famous Christmas Day lunch, with Santa there to hand out gifts to all the kids booked in for the meal. The menu has just been released and, while traditional turkey, ham and pud are featured, there are other dishes (including a vego option) that will entice and excite.

And with terrific function spaces available, Deer Park Club is a cracker venue for Christmas work break-ups and other occasions – call the function team to discuss requirements.

Barefoot bowls and kids cinema

Staged in the air-conditioned Bowls Dome every Friday – no matter the weather – barefoot bowls is hugely popular for families, couples and work groups. It costs $10 a person and comes with a pot ‘n’ bowl, followed by free karaoke.

Free kids twilight movies in the award-winning courtyard are on Tuesday evenings starting January through to late February – see website for times.

Sports Bar

With two superscreens in the sportsbar and courtyard, you will not miss any of the spring racing action and upcoming summer of cricket. With a choice of six beers on tap and a great snack menu, settle in for the day.

Deer Park Club, 780 Ballarat Road, Deer Park. Opens 8am-4am Monday-Saturday; and 10am-4am Sunday. Inquiries: 9363 1030 or visit deerparkclub.com.au
