Living out its mantra, “there’s something for everyone”, Deer Park Club already has a reputation as the best in the west, but this year it’s been crowned by Community Clubs Victoria as the Best Family Club and Best Entertainment Program in the state.

“This year,” manager David Thompson says, “we’ve been awarded Best Family Club and Best Entertainment Program, which is terrific recognition of all the hard work the club has undertaken.

“We’re really invested in the excellence of the venue and the team that brings it all together.

“It’s exciting to see new people coming in all the time – whether for a game of bowls in the Dome, a meal in the bistro or to get into one of the many free activities we run every week.

“And because we’re such a family-focused club, we get to see familiar faces among the kids who come in for a meal they like and a play in the double-storey playground. They even get their own entertainment from Friday to Sunday.”

Ultimate Bowls Championship

An exciting event for the grown-ups is coming up on August 15-16, when the Ultimate Bowls Championships is staged. Prize money of $250,000 will be won, with big crowds expected to watch the new fast-paced game.

News from the bistro

The new ‘winter warmer’ menu has been released, with plenty of new dishes to try. Slow-cooked lamb shanks, the ultimate in comfort food, is one of them, while the lobster mornay is set to be a star. And food-lovers will be drawn to the smoked duck breast.

Open for lunch and dinner, the bistro is able to seat up to 250 people who get to choose from an extensive menu.

Following the meal – or any time – a coffee and dessert in the lounge is always a treat. Something to note: kids eat free on Monday nights.

Members and buses

The club runs free courtesy buses every
day (conditions apply), bringing people in from all around who join in one of the 10 free activities, have a flutter, watch blockbuster sport on big screens, or attend monthly entertainment events that vary in cost.

It’s well worth signing up as a member of this go-ahead club because there’s a whole range of benefits. Talk to one of the obliging crew to find out more.
