Enjoy the fruits of spring at the Strawberries and Cherries Weekend

As spring fever descends on Bacchus Marsh, tens of thousands of people are expected to flock to town for the annual Strawberries and Cherries Weekend.

And this year’s festival is set to be the pick of the bunch.

The festivities start 5pm, Friday, October 18, with plenty to do, see and taste over three days.

Main Street will be closed to traffic and turned into an entertainment hub with live music, and the much-loved Saturday night fireworks will this year be at Main Street instead of Maddingley Park.

Parking woes have also been resolved, with Westside Meats offering land for a 1000-space carpark.

Event organisers, the Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association, have arranged for public seating and toilets along the Avenue of Honour and Main Street. Association secretary Glenda Jones has invited everyone to come along, taste the fruits and see what the town has to offer.

“We wanted to make it a whole-town event instead of just an Avenue of Honour event,” Ms Jones said.

“We’ll funnel the visitors into town and then they can go down to the Bacchus Marsh CBD to eat, relax and see how gorgeous Bacchus Marsh is.”

The festival will run from October 18-20.
