Brimbank is starting to develop a serious case of mad-for-cow fever.
With residents eagerly awaiting September’s release of the man lifting cow installation, by former Sunshine resident and internationally renowned sculptor John Kelly, a number of other art initiatives are herding talented locals together.
Last week, the many hands of primary school kids went to work on milk cartons donated by Visy to construct 1000 papier-mache cows for the 1000 Cows project, which is set to go on display at Sunshine Marketplace.
VCE art students are also being encouraged to submit entries in one of four categories – painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing – for a new art competition.
Entries are now open and close on August 12. Contact Brimbank council for more details on 9249 4000.
Artworks by John Kelly, on loan from various galleries, will also be exhibited at Brimbank and Community Civic Centre throughout September.
