University Park Primary School is putting wellbeing at the forefront of learning and it is shining through in its outstanding 2022 Naplan results.

Knowing the impact of the last few years, the school has strengthened its approach to wellbeing, ensuring that all students develop resilience, independence and are ready for learning.

Each day students participate in classroom Community Circles to celebrate positive playground interactions, share problem-solving strategies with their peers, and build their sense of community.

Students have their own buddies, who they meet with in weekly buddy lunches, helping them to build meaningful, respectful and lasting relationships. Whole school events, such as R U OK? Day, The National Day of Action Against Bullying, and learning celebrations, recognises the links between wellbeing, community partnerships and academic excellence.

The school’s latest whole school event was a ‘SELebration Day’ to showcase wellbeing practices to the parent community. Parents had fun joining their children in movement and mindfulness sessions, and classroom activities promoting respectful relationships. The local Brimbank Policing Unit also presented to the grade 3-6 students and parents on the important issue of cyberbullying.

By prioritising wellbeing and learning equally, students are resilient, focused, engaged and motivated to learn. University Park’s 2022 NAPLAN results are a testament to this approach.

Grade 3 students performed above Network schools and state levels in ALL areas of Literacy. Numeracy results were also above similar schools. The school’s early years curriculum, intervention strategies and small class sizes support all students to succeed and excel.

The school is currently taking enrolments for 2023 at all levels. If you would like to find out more about the school and its community, please phone 9366 1356 or visit the website at university.park.ps@education.vic.gov.au
