Help for addicts’ loved ones

ISIS Primary Care is offering a free and professionally run support group for adults affected by alcohol and other drugs used by a family member, partner or friend. The nine-week course runs every Tuesday for two hours from 10am, starting October 11, at 122 Harvester Road, Sunshine.

Trends in trees

Sunshine Golden Age Garden Club’s September meeting will hear from Titch of Fleming’s Nurseries about the latest trends in trees, especially fruiting varieties, at Glengala Community Hall on Wednesday from 5.30pm. Fleming’s are expert growers of shrubs and trees. It will also be the group’s annual plant sale, so stay behind and enjoy some supper. All welcome.

Poetry to go in print

Friends of Kororoit Creek are calling for original poems about Sunshine’s famous creek for its new poetry competition. Categories are primary, secondary or adult, with winners announced on December 1. Entries by November 15. A limited edition book will be published.
