Community Calendar: Markets, cooking & singing – July 6, 2016

Circus fun day

Kids of all ages can learn to hula-hoop, juggle and see the experts from Ruccis Circus School in action on July 9, from 1-3pm at Mainview Park, Mainview Boulevard, Truganina. It’s a free event and anyone can join in as long as they register first.

Market with the lot

The next lifestyle and produce market will start at 9am on August 6 at the Italian Sports Club, 601 Heaths Road, Werribee. Stalls include arts and crafts, fresh produce, plants, flowers and food.

School holiday crafts and characters

Head to Williams Landing Shopping Centre these school holidays for a variety of free kid-friendly activities. The centre will host Australian animal storytelling on July 5-9, followed by character face-painting between 10am and 1pm.

Winter show for orchid lovers

Werribee Orchid Club will host its winter show on July 23 from 9am-4pm, and July 24 from 9am-3pm, at the Italian Sports Club of Werribee, 601 Heaths Road, Werribee.

Paint Palmers Road sound wall

Join the Point Cook Action Group on July 9 from 11am-2pm to paint the Palmers Road sound wall. Meet near Skeleton Creek – the easiest and closest place to park is Lancaster Drive. Please wear old long-sleeved clothing, trousers and sensible shoes. We have some gloves. No children under 16 are allowed on the roadside.

Tap into your inner master chef

Discover the tastes of Thailand while learning how to make a yummy stir fry from 1-3pm on July 23 at the Grange Community Centre, 260-280 Hogans Road, Hoppers Crossing. Cost is $22.50. Bookings essential. Bring along an apron if desired. All materials supplied.

Probus spreads its wings

Werribee Probus Club needs new male members, retired or semi-retired, who would like to fill some of their spare time. Probus organises weekday bowls, special lunches, theatre nights, day tours, wine tastings, professional speakers for monthly meetings (fourth Monday of each month), as well as offering involvement in the B24 bomber restoration and Werribee Men’s Shed.

Sunrise support

The Sunrise Women’s Group supports women between 18 and 65 living with a disability and/or mental health condition. The group meets fortnightly on a Monday at the Iramoo Community Centre, Wyndham Vale, from 10.30am until 2pm.
