Love your station

Sunshine residents can now show their local train station some love more regularly.The Friends of Kororoit Creek will hold a Love Your Station event each month at Sunshine train station, where you can help with planting, watering, weeding and some maintenance.

Caring cuppa

Help support palliative care at Sunshine Hospital over a cup of tea or a sparkling wine at a special event next month. A High Tea for Wellcare in the West will be held on October 16 from 2pm to 5.30pm at Club Italia Sporting Club, St Albans. Tickets $45.

Planting project

Help keep established plants flourishing at an environmental event in Albion. A working picnic at Jones Creek will be held on October 16 from 10am to midday to maintain a planting project which began several years ago. Bring along a picnic lunch. Organisers will supply cakes, treats and games for the kids. Don’t forget water, hat, sturdy shoes and sunscreen. Please meet at 639 Ballarat Road, Albion.

Detox your home

It’s a safe, free and easy-to use service to dispose of common household chemicals without harming your health or the environment. Family fun

The Derrimut Community Centre will hold a Family Fun Day and Twilight Market on December 18 from 4pm to 7pm. There will be lots of free activities, an animal farm, jumping castles, free kids’ activities and exhibitions, senior groups, food vans or just bring a picnic dinner and stay for the Carols by Candlelight from 8pm to 9pm.

 

Champions bowl up

Some of the best lawn bowlers in the country will descend on Keilor this week when the Keilor Bowls Club hosts the Champion of Champions event on October 5 to 7. The best players from each state will fight it out over seven games to become Australia’s representative at the International Champion of Champions later in the year.

Sunshine’s spring show

Green thumbs are encouraged to attend the Sunshine Garden Club’s Spring Show on October 12 from 7pm to 9pm. Come and see a wide range of spring blooms including orchids, roses, birds of paradise and other flowers and plants.

Fun for all

The Albion and Ardeer Community Club will hold a Spring Open Day at the Eco-Living Centre at Selwyn Park, Albion, on November 6 from 2-5pm. The event, partnered by “FoodIsFree Sunshine”, will include a wicking bed construction demonstration, face painting, music and more.

Market day

Orama Street child care will hold a Market Day on October 8 from 9am to 2pm. Gold coin entry.

Come along and check out the stalls, preloved clothes and accessories. There will be a sausage sizzle and drinks, door prizes, games, a photo booth. Stalls available from $10.
