Maidstone schoolgirl stranded in Vietnam
After much angst, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade agreed to issue a new passport to 11-year-old Kate Vo, who was left stranded in Vietnam. Kate’s mother, Duong Nguyen, had issued a heartfelt plea to the department to be reunited with Kate, who was left stranded in Saigon after her estranged husband allegedly returned to Australia with the family’s passports.

Brimbank council (and most others) is misleading the community over the effects of putting a cap on rate rises, Local Government Minister and local MP Natalie Hutchins believes.
Ex-AFL star sitting on a goldmine
Former Essendon vice captain Andrew Welsh is preparing to release his first venture to the real estate market – a 1300-lot postcode in Melbourne’s western growth corridor. Thornhill Park Estate, 30km north-west of the city, is one of eleven new suburbs in the flourishing urban wedge between Melton and Caroline Springs.
Sunbury swings and roundabouts
The drawn-out saga of Sunbury’s planned separation from Hume could be set to continue, with opposition leader Matthew Guy promising the town will get its own council under a Liberal government, regardless of the outcome of a current review.
