Barista skills

Free barista training courses will be held at Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre in Keilor Downs on May 23, 25 and 27. It’s one of many programs developed by the centre to help the unemployed gain skills.

Visit Keilor Village

A free high tea and tour will be held at the new-look Keilor Village community centre on May 18 from 2-4pm. Attendees can mingle with residents and talk about living in a Stockland retirement village. RSVP by May 11.

Meditation Monday

Kindergarten places

Brimbank parents can register their children for a place in a funded kindergarten program in Brimbank through a new online application form. To be eligible, your child must turn four by April 30 in the year they attend. This service does not include funded kindergarten provided in long day care and three-year-old kindergarten programs. The council manages the funded kindergarten registration service for 34 centres in Brimbank.

Bicycle centre open day

The Brimbank Bicycle Education Centre will hold an open day on May 1 from 10am. It’s a great opportunity for residents to enjoy safe, secure riding in Keilor Downs.

Delahey’s big cuppas

A biggest morning tea event will be held at the Delahey Community Centre on May 24 from 10am to noon. Entry $3.

Positive health

Have a cuppa, get a head massage and speak to a health practitioner about ways to look after yourself. The Positive Mental Health forum will run from 10am-noon on Monday, May 9 at the Hillside Community Centre, Recreation Reserve, Royal Crescent.

Memories of ARC

Sunshine & District Historical Society will host a reminiscence day for former and current factory and office employees of ARC Engineering Sunshine on Sunday, May 22, from 11am-2.30pm at the Hunt Club Community Centre, 775 Ballarat Road, Deer Park. Kororoit Creek planting

A community planting day at Kororoit Creek in Deer Park will be held on May 22 from 10am-noon. Meet at the playground opposite 66 Millbank Drive and bring gardening gloves, water bottle, sturdy shoes, long trousers, long-sleeve top and a hat. Children under 16 years of age must be supervised.

Brimbank business owners are invited to register for a workshop at Brimbank council’s Keilor offices designed to help build skills for success. Your Business in a Digital World will be on May 4 from 6-8pm.

Enter the digital age

Free digital literacy sessions are being held at five Brimbank libraries for the region’s older residents. Run by YouthNow, the Pass IT On sessions will provide a rundown on the latest technology and are held at St Albans and Deer Park (both 9.30am-noon), Keilor Village (1.30-3.30pm) and Sunshine and Sydenham (9.30am-noon and 12.30-3pm) libraries.
