Last week, Star Weekly looked at the run home for the men’s FFV state league north west competitions.
This week we take a look at the standings in the FFV women’s state league north west competitions ahead of the final round.
State league 1
Caulfield United Cobras and South Yarra battle for the women’s state league 1 title is down to the final round, with both teams still a chance to finish in first place.
The Cobras are in the box seat sitting on top of the ladder with 40 points, while South Yarra is on 38 points and will need a win against North Geelong Warriors if they are any chance.
Both teams may be promoted to the Women’s Premier League.
Keilor Park currently sits fourth.
At the other end of the table, Berwick is bottom of the table and will be relegated and joined by either Ballarat or Preston Lions.
Both teams enter their final round matches on the same amount of points and have the same goal difference, so it may come down to goals scored in the final round of matches.
Whichever team finishes higher in eighth spot, may still may face relegation. They will face the winner of play-off between the two teams which finished second in the state league 2 divisions.
State league 2 north west
Yarra Jets have already secured the title and promotion to state league 1.
The Jets are 10 points clear of Eltham.
Eltham still has a fight on its hands to finish second and secure a spot in a play-off to be promoted to state league 1.
Melbourne Knights sit one point further back and Plenty Valley Lions another two points behind.
Eltham and the Lions play each other in the final round, while the Knights plays the eighth-placed Albert Park.
The second-placed team in state league 2 north west will play against the state league 2 south east second side, for a chance to compete against the team which finished eighth in state league 1.
The bottom two teams, Darebin Falcons and Western Eagles, face relegation.
State league 3 west
A draw is good enough for Lara to clinch the title in state league 3 west and promotion.
They sit three points clear, on 43 points, of Westside Strikers Caroline Springs, but have a massive goal difference lead.
Surf Coast sit a further point back and could jump into second if results go their way.
The team that finishes second will play against the team which finishes second in state league 3 north, with the winner to face the eighth placed team from state league 2 north west for a spot in state league 2 north west.
Clifton Hill will finish bottom and be relegated, while Maribyrnong Swifts and Truganina Hornets are eighth and ninth, will the lower of the teams to face relegation.
The Swifts has the harder task, facing the third-placed Surf Coast.
State league 3 north
Bundoora United is the runaway winner in state league 3 north, sitting 13 points clear with one round remaining.
Second place is between Fawkner and Bullen Lions with two points separating them. Fawkner has the harder job, facing United who is yet to lose a match this season.
The team which finishes second will play against the second team in state league 3 west, with the winner to face the eighth-placed team from state league 2 north west for a spot in state league 2 north west.
The winless Darebin Falcons will be relegated and joined by either Moreland Zebras, Heidelberg United or Eltham Redbacks, who are separated by one point.
Heidelberg United, which sits in eighth spot, looks set to avoid the drop with a clash against the Falcons, while the Zebras play the third-placed Lions and the Redbacks take on Watsonia Heights.
State league 4 west
Maidstone United and Yarraville FC have already secured their top two finishes and promotion for next year.
United will be looking to use the final round to score a perfect 18-0 record for the season.
Truganina will finish on the bottom of the ladder.
State league 4 north
Glenroy Bears and Watsonia Heights are still in running for the state league 4 north title entering the final round.
The Bears sit on 38 points, two ahead of Watsonia Heights, and a win against bottom side West Brunswick Wanders will give them the title.
Both teams are set for promotion.
The Wanders, who are on six points, will be hoping for a win themselves to stop them from finishing bottom.
North City Wolves and Fitzroy City are only one point ahead of them.
