My Suburb: Cindy Carino, Caroline Springs

Caroline Springs resident Cindy Carino is a grand finalist in Face of the Globe, a beauty pageant in aid of the Rainbow Child Foundation. She wants to raise $13,000 for a pump to deliver clean drinking water to an impoverished South African community.

How does the pageant work?

If I win Miss Charity, 10 per cent of the overall money raised in the pageant will be given to the charity of the winner’s choice. If I win, I will use the title and recognition throughout Australia and overseas to help more charities and the community.

What’s your favourite place to get a coffee and a bite to eat?

I love Muffin Break at Watergardens town centre. I like the coffee and spinach-and-ricotta rolls. I also like eating at Switch or Café Greco at Watergardens, or Slices at CS Square.

What would you change in your neighbourhood?

I don’t like the hoons who drive down my street. And I don’t like how the houses around Caroline Springs Lake all look the same. They’re very plain and it’s supposed to be a signature area – their design ruins it, in my opinion.

What would you not change?

I like Caroline Springs for being a family area. It’s a peaceful and pet-friendly suburb and I like the lake.

Most embarrassing moment when out and about?

Singing along with a friend in her car while driving along Caroline Springs Boulevard and a group of guys in the car opposite us heard. I shut up once I realised.
