Celebrating the red and black

The dual celebration of a committed community and a 40-year premiership reunion will make April 2 one of the biggest days and nights on Braybrook’s social calendar.

Current and former residents, or just dyed-in-the-wool Braybrook Football Club fans, will meet at Braybrook Sports Club, Pennell Reserve, for an old-fashioned reminisce, starting about 1pm.

It’s been organised by Brian Leiper, who is helping build the Facebook page Braybrook I Lived There.

Locals can enjoy a Braybrook FC intra-club match at the reserve while catching up with old friends.

The club will celebrate 40 years since its 1976 premiership, with local legend, former AFL star Doug Hawkins coming along.

Founded in 1874, the club is one of the state’s oldest, holding the record of more than 40 premierships, and is where luminaries such as Ted Whitten and Brian Wilson began their careers.
