Rockin’ the Burnside Village fete

The mane thing in Ray Morris’ life for several months has been carving and building a rocking horse.

Mr Morris, a Burnside Village resident, has donated the horse to the retirement community’s annual fete, which raises money for the “village community fund”.

Fete co-ordinator Graeme Carson is inviting residents to join in the fun of the fete on Sunday, March 20.

Mr Carson says money raised at the event will be used for “anything that comes up that we may need”.

“A lot of people [at the village] were giving things away, downsizing, and all this stuff was getting thrown away or donated to the Salvos,” Mr Carson said. “So we thought we’d start collecting it and selling it.”

The fete, in its 13th year, will include all the usual festival stuff – sausage sizzles, fairy floss, cake stalls and “lots of bric-a-brac”.

It will run from 9am-3pm on Sunday, March 20, at 16 Nicol Avenue, Burnside. Details: 8361 0499.
