Kids take a plunge for safety

Australia’s biggest week in water made a massive splash in Hillside last week with about 2000 young swimmers taking part in water safety lessons.

Paul Sadler Swimland centre manager Brett Connors said the young swimmers, including five-year-old Aniela (pictured) were taught CPR, water rescue, how to use life jackets and under-water swimming as part of SwimSAFER Week.

“They also learnt to tread water fully clothed, so they’re aware of that sensation if they ever get themselves into trouble,” he said. Swim Australia says kids are safer, smarter and stronger by learning to swim.
