Highpoint shopping centre is inviting people to create their own jewellery as part of the glittering new 3D Jewellery Box.
Created in collaboration with Melbourne design studio The Cutaway, the 3D installation has been inspired by iconic jewellery boxes of the past.
The centrepiece of the space is a 1.5-metre-high, 2.4-metre-long sculpture of a brilliant cut diamond built from powder-coated steel and multi-coloured perspex.
The 3D Jewellery Box was unveiled last week at an event hosted by actor Melanie Vallejo and Highpoint style ambassador Nadia Bartel.
The Melbourne Ballet Company performed a dance choreographed specifically for the night by the company’s principal dancer Sharon Fernandez.
The dance opened with the nostalgic sounds of a wind-up jewellery box as the ballerinas circled the sculpture.
Using a 3D printing pen, acclaimed Melbourne artist Kate Rohde produced an exclusive collection of jewellery pieces for the event.
The 3D Jewellery Box will be at Highpoint shopping centre at Maribyrnong until Sunday.
Visitors will be able to design their own jewellery using the high-tech 3D printing pens at ‘make your own jewellery’ stations.
