A St Albans ex-councillor has claimed he was offered bribes to stop the destruction of Keilor council. In an exclusive interview with The Advocate, Mr Charlie Hall said if he’d voted in favour of staying in council he would now be mayor of the city with a $6000 a year allowance and a luxury car. Mr Hall is a detective with Sunshine’s criminal investigation branch.

A Deer Park plastics, resins and explosives company plans to build a $1 million storage and moulding plant. But the Deer Park ALP branch and nearby residents fear the 26 tonnes of liquid acrylic to be stored there will create a fire hazard and noxious fumes.

Brimbank council plans to give every household in the city two big bins – one for recycling, the other for household garbage. Commissioner John Hill said last week the recycling bin would be a divided 240-litre unit with one compartment for glass and plastic bottles, the other for paper.

Community campaigners have asked the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to review Brimbank council’s planning permit for the $6.7 million Sunshine swimming pool redevelopment. The application, by the Sunshine Pool Community Action Group, lists 22 grounds for appealing the decision.
