Caroline Springs RSL begins poppy drive

Remembrance Day next month is spurring on Caroline Springs RSL members to prepare for their annual poppy appeal, with more than half a million Flanders poppy badges expected to be sold nationally this year.

Caroline Springs sub-branch president Peter Burquest says a committed group of members and volunteers helps make their local appeal a success each year, with the iconic red poppies going on sale from late October to raise funds for current and former servicemen and women, and their families.

“Not only does buying and wearing a poppy show respect for our country’s fallen heroes, it helps raise vital funds to assist past and present servicemen and women, and their dependents, in times of need,” RSL Victoria appeals manager Peter Smith said.
