Deer Park teenager found dead after attack

UPDATE: A teenager has been found dead in Deer Park in what police say could be murder involving machetes.

Police arrived at a house in Billingham Road about 10pm on Sunday after seven people in the house were attacked by a group of 10 off the street.

Homicide Squad’s Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Tremain Paul Trewain said it was a very quick attack involving weapons “probably of some length”.

A young man also suffered a laceration to his hand and a young female had bruising to a leg following the incident.

“It was very quick, it was almost a case of running into the property, inflicting as much damage and injury as possible, and then running out of the property,” he said.

“Weapons of unknown description have been used to smash the windows of the house and to damage the car that’s parked in the driveway as well as to inflict injuries on the people that were in the house at the time

“At the time there were seven people in the house, including a female. Out of that three people were injured. The young girl has been injured. A male has been injured, and the deceased male.”

It is believed the group of 10, aged in their late teens to early 20s, arrived at the house on foot on Sunday evening before a fight took place.

It’s believed the two groups were known to each other.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman Ray Rowe said a man was taken to the Western Hospital in Sunshine, reportedly for cuts to his hand.

Homicide squad detectives have set up a crime scene near the house, and forensic police are examine the house.

An autopsy will be carried out to determine the teenager’s cause of death.

No arrests have yet been laid.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
