WHAT’S ON: Brimbank, North West

TWILIGHT FUN

Brimbank council and GoWest will present a celebration of queer culture as part of the annual Midsumma Festival. Highlights include Triple J Unearthed pop punk band The Spinset, a dog show, the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Youth Chorus and a free barbecue. There’s also face-painting, storytelling sessions, and croquet. From 5pm-8pm, February 1, at Kevin Wheelahan Gardens, 68 Devonshire Road, Sunshine.

GREEN LIVING

Learn how to reduce waste, raise chickens, plant, cultivate, preserve and cook your own produce. There’s also art and planting activities, guided walks, a clothes swap and book giveaway. 10am-3pm, February 22, at Westvale Community Centre,
45 Kings Road, St Albans.

MADE IN BRIMBANK

A new music and dance event, MaDE – featuring vocal artists, a community and youth stage and multicultural activities – will be staged at Clarke Street, Sunshine, from noon-8pm on March 23. Expressions of interest for performers, food vendors and stallholders will be received until 5pm this Friday.
