Deer Park: Man shot three times to the body

A 42-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was shot in the chest in Deer Park

Police spokeswoman Creina O’Grady said the man, suffering from life-threatening injuries, sought help from a resident of Lake Boga Avenue, Deer Park, about 11.45pm on Saturday.

The resident contacted emergency services, who took the man to The Alfred hospital.

Inspector Adrian Dalzotto said the man was shot three times to the body, and was bleeding profusely when he was found by emergency services. He has since undergone surgery.

He said police have yet to determine where the crime took place, and were waiting for the victim to wake up and recover sufficiently from his surgery to talk.

“We don’t know where the shooting occurred, and not certain where the actual crime scene is,” he said.

Inspector Dalzotto said that while “any gun crime is cause for concern, someone being shot three times is a pretty nasty incident”.

Police located the man’s car, which had been parked nearby on Lake Boga Avenue.

He said the vehicle was impounded and will undergo forensic examination.

Anyone with information about the incident or anyone seeing the car is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on  1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
