After suffering from debilitating depression and insomnia that caused her to take six months off work, St Albans resident Amanda Riddles has found the strength to take steps to improve her life.
“The last two years have been about building my confidence and self-esteem, becoming social and fit again and getting rid of self-destructive habits like smoking,’’ she says.
“Being active and fit has helped my mental health and I’m once again excited by life.”
The 32-year-old will put her training into practice by taking part in this Sunday’s Eureka Climb.
Participants will ascend 1642 steps to the Eureka Tower’s observation deck, raising funds for youth charity Whitelion and surgical treatment organisation Interplast.
Ms Riddles has worked hard to undertake intensive training specifically suited to the 88-storey climb.
