POLICE are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a shop on Main Road, St Albans, this morning.
A man walked into the shop around 9am with what is believed to be a knife.
He demanded cash and got into an altercation with the male shop attendant before fleeing on foot towards Cape Street.
The shop attendant was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital suffering lacerations to the upper body.
The offender is described as being of Asian appearance, around 175cm tall and wearing a black cap, black sunglasses and some type of camouflage print clothing.
