NURSES have called off industrial action ahead of fresh talks with the state government.
The Australian Nursing Federation and hospital employers have entered a new round of talks.
Health Minister David Davis welcomed the “significant development in negotiations” with the ANF for a new enterprise bargaining agreement.
He said the immediate end to industrial activity had paved the way for both parties to resume conciliation.
ANF state secretary Lisa Fitzpatrick told ABC radio last Wednesday that negotiations would now return to Fair Work Australia.
“The most important thing is that the action has stopped.”
Sunshine Hospital nurses and midwives began a rolling walk-out campaign on February 28 in their fight to retain nurse-to-patient ratios.
Employers and the ANF have committed to resolve all outstanding issues by this Friday.
