State budget: At a glance, for west

MAJOR items in 2012 state budget affecting Melbourne’s west.

* A further $17.1 million for new children’s court at Broadmeadows Magistrates Court

* $15.1 million for new intensive care unit at Sunshine Hospital

* More than $15 million for the completion of the Sunbury Electrification Project

* $14 million for extensive refurbishment and upgrade of Galvin Park Secondary College in Werribee

* $14 million for West Gate Bridge maintenance

* $13.7 million for Melbourne Zoo and to cater for larger crowds at Werribee Open Range Zoo

* $12 million for upgrade to West Gate Freeway (Williamstown Road to M80 Ring Road).

* Additional $27 million for Victoria Police Operational Tactics and Safety Training complex at Essendon (on top of $3 million in last year’s budget).

* New medium-security prison with 500 beds at Ravenhall

* $4 million for Stage 3 of Laverton P-12 College regeneration project including redevelopment of gym and play areas

* $4 million for modernisation of Western Autistic School (Niddrie) modernisation redirected to commence construction of P-12 autistic school at Laverton P-12 site

* $3.9 million for new four-bed Psychiatric Assessment and Planning Unit at Sunshine Hospital that will support 400 patients a year

* Funding for two additional overtaking lanes on Melbourne-Lancefield Road

* Additional 45 beds at Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre

* $1 million for café/florist at Altona Memorial Park and a share of $1.6 million with Fawkner Memorial Park for redevelopments

* $500,000 to Gisborne Secondary College this year as part of a $3.5 million enhancement of education facilities at the school.

* $250,000 in funding for a feasibility study into a secondary college in Romsey.
