PUPILS at St Albans Primary School dressed up on Friday as what they want to be when they grow up, promoting a series of events raising funds for disadvantaged children.
Fox FM host Jo Stanley shared books and stories from her childhood with prep pupils.
Ms Stanley, an ambassador for The Smith Family, is encouraging people to take part in the organisation’s “back to school” fund-raiser.
Local businesses can take part by encouraging workers to squeeze into their old school uniforms and swap their lunch break for a recess.
Schools can get involved by running retro hair days, spelling bees and sports carnivals.
Smith Family general manager Heather Le Roy says it’s a fun way for people to get together to help thousands of financially disadvantaged children.
“One in 10 Australian children are living in disadvantage and don’t have access to the opportunities they need to reach their potential,” she said.
“We believe education helps break the cycle of disadvantage.”
Last year, The Smith Family’s programs helped more than 117,000 Australian families and children.
