STUDENT leaders at St Albans Secondary College have been building a bridge with businesses.
Inspired by the tough times faced by graduates, year 10 student ambassadors have established links that help school-leavers understand their career options.
Speaking at a business breakfast at the school on Thursday morning, Business Council of Australia policy director Patrick Coleman (pictured with students Tanya Maturi, Demi Tran, Johnny Nguyen and Ana Miscovic) said the partnerships were a great way to develop career pathways.
“[The school] has one of the best partnerships between a school, community organisation [Beacon] and businesses, both local and large, that I have seen anywhere in Australia.”
Mr Coleman said a key task of such partnerships was broadening students’ understanding of available career paths and developing leadership skills.
Young leaders will put their skills to the test as they organise events for fellow students throughout the year.
