Rainbow connection

BRIMBANK Council’s offices in Sunshine have been given a splash of colour with the raising of a rainbow flag to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (May 17).

Amanda Rigby, Cath Olive, Dean Michael, Ellen Kessler and Kath Brackett (pictured) were present as Brimbank and Hobsons Bay councils flew the flag and co-hosted talks by Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission’s acting commissioner Karen Toohey, Hockey Victoria chief executive Ben Hartung and Hobsons Bay mayor Tony Briffa.

Speaking at the Sunshine gathering, Brimbank general manager of infrastructure and environment Paul Younis said the event symbolised the council’s commitment to diversity.
