MELTON Council is encouraging residents to join in this week’s National Library and Information Week celebrations.
The annual event celebrates the role and value of libraries in the community.
Mayor Justin Mammarella says it’s an opportunity to discover what local libraries have to offer.
“This year’s theme highlights that libraries are far more than just the books they contain and is a chance to discover the myriad other things they offer, including language kits, DVDs and sports equipment, as well as genealogy, research, education and training services.
”Libraries are the lounge room of the community and places to go when you need help with your information needs. I encourage residents to visit their local library, take part in the free activities on offer and discover the resources available.”
Events at Caroline Springs library include the launch of a Macedonian DVD and magazine collection today at 11am, a seniors movie morning at 10.45 tomorrow, and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday at 10am. Details: melton.vic.gov.au/library
