BRIMBABNK Council has rejected a proposal to change the name of a St Albans neighbourhood.
Sixteen residents signed a petition requesting the neighbourhood bounded by Main Road East, Cowper Avenue, Errington Road and Sunshine Avenue be changed from St Albans to Kealba.
They claimed the name of the suburb was changed from Kealba Views to St Albans in 1998 without public consultation.
But administrator Joanne Anderson said council records dating back to 1978 showed the area had always been considered part of St Albans.
