Coroner hears killer-dog evidence
A pitbull-cross that mauled a four-year-old girl to death had never displayed signs of aggression, an inquest into her death has heard. Ayen Chol died after a dog owned by Melbourne man Lazor Josevski charged into a St Albans house in August last year and mauled her as she clung to her mother’s leg. An inquest began at Melbourne Magistrates Court last Monday. In April, Josevski, 57, pleaded guilty to four charges over the attack. He was fined $11,000 last month. The inquest continues.
Police seek evidence on stabbing
Police are seeking information from the public after a man was stabbed in a fight at a St Albans gambling venue. The incident happened about 7.50pm last Wednesday at the venue in Gillespie Road. A Deer Park man, 22, received a stab wound to the groin, which severed his femoral artery. The man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and has now stabilised. Pair on attempted murder charges
Two men have been arrested following an aggravated burglary and assault in Kings Park. Detectives arrested the pair last Tuesday following the July 28 incident. Detectives arrested a Cairnlea man, 36, about 10am in Sunshine. An Albanvale man, 35, was arrested 90 minutes later. Both were charged with attempted murder, false imprisonment, intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and aggravated burglary. They appeared before an out of sessions hearing on Thursday and were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court next month.
Teenagers held over robberies
Three teenagers have been arrested following a series of robberies in St Albans. Police were called to Keilor Plains railway station just before 11.30pm last Thursday following reports of robberies on East Esplanade and Regan Street. In both incidents, the victims, men aged 19 and 20, were assaulted and had valuables stolen. Police arrested a Burnside boy, 16, and two Kings Park boys, 15, at the scene. Investigations are continuing.
