POLICE have today released images of a man and a woman alleged to have stolen a cabbie’s coin bag after refusing to pay for their fare.
The taxi driver picked up the pair at Ringwood railway station in June. The couple told the driver not to put on the meter as they were only travelling a short distance.
The driver refused, returned to the taxi rank and told the pair to get out.
The man, who was sitting in the back, leaned over the seat and struck the driver several times in the face while the woman reached across and grabbed the driver’s coin bag.
Other taxi drivers at the rank came to the driver’s aid and the couple ran off.
