TAYLORS Lakes Primary School pupils were in fine voice as they celebrated last Thursday’s national event Music Count Us In.

More than 600 pupils joined in the festival, for which students learn a song to perform at the same time as 600,000 others across Australia.

Taylors Lakes principal Chris Sevior says the school has been part of the event for five years. This year’s song, Different People Stand Together, was about uniting students.

“It gives kids the chance to celebrate music, work together and have fun. We also had a xylophone solo from one of our students and a samba band performance.”

The federal government music initiative found its voice in 2007.
