Outrage over ‘wrong’ uniform

A Brimbank secondary college sparked outrage after sending students home for not wearing the correct uniform. Up to 60 year 11 and 12 students at Victoria University Secondary College were sent home on their first day of term after failing to wear the new school uniform. Principal Genevieve Simson said parents and students were given sufficient warning that old school uniforms would be phased out. After three schools merged in 2010 to form the college, the new school council set up a uniform committee to choose a new uniform. Ms Simson said the school would stand by the new policy. “It’s a school rule and they’ve had two years’ warning.” Concerned parents are urged to contact the school on 8312 0200.
