Hip-hop face-off in Brimbank

MORE than 100 Brimbank teens flocked to Sunshine library on Thursday to celebrate National Youth Week (April 5-14).

Brimbank Council hosted a free barbecue before young hip-hop enthusiasts like Tommie, 13, Jacque, 15, and Ligi, 14, battled for the title of ‘RAP3021 dance-off star of the year’.

Program co-ordinator Rachel Harvey said the event “encourages young people to make new friends with other young people who share their interest in dance and music”.

People aged 12-25 also played games and listened to music on the Police Citizen Youth Club’s Street Surfer Bus.

Council is staging an online Facebook competition, asking youth “what it’s like to be a young person in Brimbank”.
