WESTERN Health’s executive director of nursing and midwifery, Associate Professor Denise Patterson, celebrated International Nurses and Midwives Day with Gellibrand MP Nicola Roxon and Western Health chief executive Alex Cockram (all pictured).
The trio attended a function for the organisation’s 2700 nurses last Wednesday night, acknowledging the work they do every day.
“Nurses and midwives play one of the most important roles in our hospitals,” Ms Patterson said.
“At Western Health, they make up 40 per cent of the entire workforce. They are here 24 hours a day; they’re the first point of contact for patients and the last person they see before they leave.”
