SUNSHINE’S identity could be revealed over the next fortnight in the Western Region Football League division 1.
The Kangaroos have been a revelation with six wins from seven starts to hop into second position on the ladder.
The next two rounds will provide a forensic assessment of where they sit in the pecking order.
The Roos will confront last year’s grand finalists Altona and Spotswood in successive weeks to round out the first half of the season.
Kangaroos coach Brett Jacobs told the Weekly that his team had been looking forward to this block of matches to gauge their status in the bigger picture.
“You want to test yourself against the best,” he said.
“It will give a good indication of where we’re at.’’
The Kangaroos have made a compelling case for inclusion among the premiership threats.
They have a nice blend of defence and attack that Jacobs says has taken 18 months of work to get right.
To join the exclusive ‘contenders club’, you have to beat teams already there. Deer Park can safely say it has done that with victories over Altona and Spotswood this season.
The Kangaroos can push into that upper tier with strong showings in the next two games, starting with Saturday’s clash with Spotswood at Kinder Smith Reserve. “We’re confident in our structures and our ability,” Jacobs said.
