St Albans rail action … or not?

THE state government hopes the removal of St Albans’ controversial Main Road railway crossing will start within 12 months.

Western Metropolitan Liberal MP Bernie Finn told Parliament he wanted the issue resolved as quickly as possible.

‘‘Needless to say, lives have been lost at this railway crossing. I am confident that we as a government will begin work on the project within the next 12 months.”

Transport Minister Terry Mulder told the Weekly earlier this year that VicRoads had begun consulting with residents about the project’s design.
