Appeal for help as winter draws in

PUPILS from St Albans Heights Primary School have helped popular children’s writer Andy Griffiths (pictured) launch a national charity appeal.

Griffiths and Fox FM breakfast announcer Jo Stanley launched The Smith Family’s winter appeal as the ‘Family’ strives to raise $3 million nationally for disadvanaged youth.

With more than 50 kids sponsored by the charity’s ‘Learning for Life’ program, the school has chipped in $300.

According to Australian Early Development Index data, 27 per cent of Brimbank five-year-olds starting school are vulnerable in one or more areas of development.

Brimbank is also the state’s third most-disadvantaged municipality.
