A WESTERN suburbs homeless advocate will spend a night sleeping at Etihad Stadium in a bid to raise awareness of suburban poverty.
Caroline Chisholm Society chief executive Helen Cooney (pictured) will brave the cold to take part in St Vincent de Paul’s annual CEO Sleepout on Thursday.
Ms Cooney and hundreds of other business leaders will sleep under the stars with only a sleeping bag and piece of cardboard to keep them warm.
Ms Cooney says she was inspired to take part to increase awareness of the more than 2000 women and children who seek assistance from the society every year. More than 75 per cent of these families are from Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Ms Cooney hopes to reach her target of $5000 by the end of the week. Donations:
