A LABOR MP has urged the state government to release the former Sunvale Primary School site back to the community.
Marsha Thomson asked Planning Minister Matthew Guy to heed residents’ requests for it to be zoned as public open space and that “community recreation” be developed on the site.
The Weekly reported last month that Sunvale was on a list of former school sites that could be sold to developers for infrastructure funding.
“The community has come up with a master plan that has it being used for recreation . . . for people to experience open space in so many ways,’’ Ms Thomson told State Parliament.
A spokesman for Mr Guy said the government was working towards a community park.
